I am trying to install new software updates onto my computer.
The initial installation is fine, however, when I get to the point where my mac restarts it just can't do it. My mac doesn't freeze as such, the status bar just doesn't progress at all. I've tried to leave my mac on overnight to see if it progresses at all, but still no joy!
I was just wondering if you had any ideas if there was a reason for this?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I need some more information:

What version of Mac OS X are you running currently?
What software updates and how many are trying to download?
What type of internet connection do you have and how fast?

You have an update which got corrupted in download, most likely. Try repairing the hard drive first.
Start up the computer with the Install DVD in (hold c key until you can tell it is using the DVD). Select language, but DON'T CONTINUE the install. Instead, find Disk Utility in the top Finder menus and use that to repair hard drive.

Does it start up normally after that?
