Hi Paul and welcome to macosx.com

The only possibility I see is to hook the camcorder to the USB port and use a ripping software (like MacTheRipper for instance) to extract the movie onto a VIDEO_TS folder. But I'm not sure it works

Toast 7 also can extract MPEGs from DVD camcorders using Toast's Media Browser

In the good all times when Sony's leadership was not afded out by the iPod success, i.e when Mac still use 9.x system, ImageMixer (available on Mac)
http://www.imagemixer.com/e/sony/imx15/index.htm
was able to extract the movie from the camcorder.

But now, Sony does not do anything from macusers.
So, to be honest, I would return the camcorder for a miniDV or DVD camera

Philippe
