hello,
I don't know how to upload video files from my sony hdr-sr5 to my mac (leopard operating system).
any help would be appreciated
Peter
If you take a look here and choose the "Specifications" tab:
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665089060
it says:
i.LINK® Interface
N/A
and
Operating System Compatibility
Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Professional SP4, XP Home, XP Professional, Windows Vista®
You might be able to do it like this (taken from iMovies's help):
You can import video from USB camcorders that record to DVD or hard disk drive (HDD) storage media, or from flash-based devices, such as digital still cameras that record video.
To import video from a USB recording device:
Set the device to PC Connect mode, and then connect it to your computer. The standard USB connector plugs into your Mac.
The Import window opens automatically displaying all the clips on the device. You can use the playback controls under the viewer to review the contents of the clips.
NOTE: If you’re connecting a DVD camcorder, plugging it into your Mac may cause DVD Player to open. If that happens, you can simply close DVD Player.
I would recommend you to read the Help that comes with iMovie.
Allan
Hi Allan, thanks for your response.
The Imovie says no camera attached. So The mac and the camera are not talking to each other. Iphoto opens and imports still photos taken on the video camera, but not video. Do I need a different connecting wire? two options on camera are component out, and av out. Or am I just missing proper software that is not compatible with mac?
Peter
Hi Peter.
It looks like the camera and computer are talking - otherwise iPhoto wouldn't open. Since I don't have a camera like yours I did some research for you. Have a look here:

and go down to the post by ELM. The next one (by Bradley Olson1) also looks interesting.
Hope this helps you some how.
