HI,
I have loaded some iTunes tracks onto my Micro Vault Tiny from iTunes in my PowerBook G4, but cannot figure out how to remove the existing tracks from the MVT and replace with other tracks.
The MVT icon appears in the upper right hand corner of my desk top and in the left upper section of my Finder window.
If I CLK on the MVT icon in the Finder expecting to see a display somehow of the tracks there is nothing. Info on MVT indicates :
1) Capacity: 1.89 GB
2) Available: 1.65 GB
3) Used: 244 MB
Music plays off the MVT in my car Sony radio w/ USB port, but I see no way to activate the MVT tracks thru my computer.
I believe, but don't remember, that I loaded the music tracks currently on the MVT by creating a playlist in iTunes and then dragging it onto the MVT icon in the Finder column.
I searched Google including Sony support (none) for answers but could find none.
I am confidant that I have removed the MVT INcorrectly at least once.
Thank you for any help.

A few things:
1. To effectively remove items from a disk you must both move them to the Trash and empty the Trash. Disk space will not become available until after emptying, as the Trash is only a temporary location where items are still associated with their volume of origin.
2. You need to Eject this flash drive before physically disconnecting it. Do this by selecting it on the Desktop and choosing File > Eject or clicking the Eject icon next to it in the sidebar of a Finder window. Disconnecting a volume without first ejecting it can corrupt data on the disk. One way to make it work again is to connect it to another computer, eject it, and try connecting to yours again.
3. If you are not able to resurrect the data on the drive, you can probably erase it (with Disk Utility) and start over.

HI Ben, Thanks for your response. Following are my responses to my attempt or questions to execute your suggestions:
1) To remove contents, 1) move all to Trash & 2) Empty trash
PROB:
a) If I CLk on the icons in Upper left Desktop and left Finder column, I see no contents as I normally would, say with a CD
b) I see no contents in the iTunes window either, YET I can play the music I originally put on the MVT when I insert the MVT into my Sony car radio’s USB port.
2) Re: Your suggestion to eject in a different computer.
Question: Do you mean a different Mac or can I use a PC?
If PC is OK, can I somehow drag the Icon to trash as in MAC?
3) I opened Disk Utilty which showed the MVT icon, CLK'd the icon and CLK’d Repair. Disk U indicated no repairs necesssary.
PROB: If I do a Disk Utility erase of the MVT contents, do I have to completely restore any software on the MVT?
Thanks again for your time and effort.
Scott

I don't know what effect erasing will have on built-in software. Don't know how that software is stored. Wouldn't recommend this. In Windows, there's a device removal icon that appears in the System Tray when you connect a removable device. Click it and select the relevant device to safely remove it.
Is there anything in your Trash now?

HI Ben,
Will try the PC option when I get access to a friend's.
Will not attempt a Disk Utility erase.
Nothing in Mac Dock's Trash.
Thanks,
Scott
