How or what do I use to get rid of any spyware on my system?

Well, spyware is extremely rare on a mac so before we go there, what problems are you experiencing exactly?

My wife has had her VISA credit card used twice by thieves (she does some internet buying), and each time we have had to get a new card for her. So we were wondering if there is any spyware on our machine, and if there is to terminate it. This is why I was asking.

It's probably the websites being hacked rather than your computer. Remember not to allow any website to store your card number, expiration date and security code information.

Though I would posit that you do not need it since there's slim to no chance you have spyware on your computer.

You can also use LittleSnitch to specifically monitor all incoming and outgoing activity on your computer and chose to disallow any suspicious activity on your network:
