I have the 'stickies' icon in my dock. When I click in it I am told I cannot use it because it (they) is in the trash. When I search the trash I do not see it. What I do see - and do not understand - are a large number of 'recovered' files (as well as other stuff that should be in the trash). I also no longer can find 'stickies' under APPLICATIONS.

Can you help?

If you click and hold on the Stickies icon in the Dock, you will see a small menu appear. One of the choices should be "Show in Finder"
what happens when you select that "Show in Finder"? You should see the Stickies app, and be able to determine its location.
