Today I restarted my Mac and walked away from it. When I returned it was giving me error msgs. saying it was having difficulty deleting some picture files. Not knowing what to do, I reset to manual sync and restarted again.
The machine came up syncing photos from albums that have been on my webpage for months. When it was done syncing, all the folders for all my albums had been deleted leaving only empty albums and captions on my website.
Have you ever heard of this happening before?? It was really strange...and I couldn't get it to stop syncing! AAAAARRRRRGH!
Can anyone help?

I'm not clear what you mean by "sync." Are you using iSync or some such app? What were you trying to do? A little bit more detail, please. Thanks.

Here is what the Mac folks say, but it didn't work:
Thank you for contacting Apple.
We are currently investigating reports of data missing after a local iDisk sync. If you believe you are experiencing this issue, please do the following:
Turn off the local copy of your iDisk using the following steps (do not sync your local iDisk first):
1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2. From the View menu, choose .Mac.
3. Click the iDisk tab.
4. Deselect the "Create a local copy of your iDisk" option.
5. Close the System Preferences window.
6. Restart your computer
After restarting your computer, you can enable local iDisk, if needed. The time this process takes will vary, depending on the amount of data contained on your iDisk.
If you are missing data after following the steps above, to assist the .Mac Support Engineering team with evaluating this issue, could you please reply to this email with the following requested information:
- What is your current installed version of Mac OS X?
(For example: Mac OS X 10.3.5)
- What is the composition of your local network? Please list any: routers, hubs, switches, proxy servers and miscellaneous networking hardware and software.
- How many computers in your local network?
- Are you using any firewall hardware or software?
- Do you use scheduled iDisk synchronization or manual syncing?
- How many computers do you sync to your iDisk via local iDisk syncing?
- What are the names and sizes of any missing/altered folders and documents?
- Who is your Internet Service Provider?
In addition to the previous questions, please attach your MirrorAgent.log file to your reply. The MirrorAgent.log file documents Local iDisk syncing and will help us analyze the situation you have described.
The MirrorAgent.log file is located in /Users//Library/Logs/MirrorAgent.log

Sounds like you found a bug. If it happens, to stop the process, force quit the app (command/option/esc and then pick the app you want to force quit). If that doesn't help, pull the plug. Sorry I can't help you more, but I don't deal with iSync bugs for Apple (more into the innards of openGL).

Would it help you to know that I am a .Mac subscriber. In system preferences, under "Internet and Network", I have .Mac set to sync (using iSync)
automatically, which keeps my address book, email and other things updated, so I can access them from another computer when
traveling. The photos for my .Mac website albums also reside in the iDisk. Upon restarting my machine, it came up "syncing"
and erased all the photos that had been in the albums and the folders they resided in.
