I have a imac G3 300 Mhz with 512 MB Mac OS X 10.4.5. I was wondering if it was possible to remove the CD drive a place a Super drive? And, if you know, what type of iDVD or iLife would be best for my computer. Also, can I connect a new mac mini G4 to my computer?

Hi and welcome to macosx.com

(1) about connecting the mini to the G3
Yes, through a FW cable, and while booting in Target Firewire mode, one machine can be seen by the other as a simple hard drive
To put the A computer into Target Disk mode, you restart the A machine and hold down the T key until the FireWire icon appears on the display. You then connect a FireWire cable from A to the other computer. When the other computer completes its normal boot, through the FireWire connection, a hard disk icon of A appears on its desktop.

(2)About upgrading the G3
The iMac G3 is not easily expandable and -for short-, updating it with a internal CD/DVD burner (device + tech action) will nearly reach the price of a mini !
You can hang to the G3 a external CD/DVD burner (Firewire one; around 150$).
But I repeat I would not put a cent on such an old machine which can be bought for around 100$ on eBay.

(3) about iDVD/iLife
I saw iLife'04 running 'normally' on a friend's iMac G3 SE with 768MB

Regards
Philippe
