When printing TextEdit documents to my HP 7100 AIO printer, the document title prints out in small type in the upper left corner of the sheet and the Date/Time prints in the upper right corner.
Normally this is a good thing, but there are occasions where I would like to surpress them. It's not clear whether the additions are done by TextEdit, by OSX, or by the printer driver. In any event, I haven't found any Preference setting to control them.
Can you help? I am using OS10.4 in a Mac Mini.
Thanks, Billyboy

When you go to Print in TextEdit, you will see a checkbox on the print panel, "Print Header and Footer." Uncheck!

Sounds very straightforward and logical. Unfortunately, however, I don't see any "header/footer" checkbox either on TextEdit's Print window or under any of its popup options. Can you be more specific?
Do I need a later OSX? I'm using v.10.4.6.

My bad. I was answering from 10.5 ... and don"t recall when, exactly, TextEdit started showing up on the print panel.
Here's a thought, though. You could Save as PDF, from the Print panel, and I believe print that without those annoying headers. Otherwise, you need a real word-processing app. If you don't have one, there is at least one that is free: Bean.
Hope this helps.

If I save as PDF, then double-click the saved file,it opens in Preview--again showing a title and time/date at the top of the page. And again I see no way to get rid of them.
What free word processing app do you reccommend? Bill

iText Express 2.1
Bean 0.9.9
AbiWord 2.4.5
