Hello: I would like to know if any of you guys has found out what's the correct brand of blank dvd's to get when one's using Roxio's Toast Titanium.
I'm trying to burn a dvd on a PowerbookG4 with Toast 6.0.9, and on a Macbook Intelcoreduo with Toast 7.0. I've been trying about 8 different brabds of dvds on both computers and they all end up in "your disc failed to be written" or "verification failed" messages.
J.I.C., these are data dvd's I'm burning, mostly with mp3's.
Thanks,

Alejandro About to loose faith in Mac

Hi JIC!

Since you are trying to burn data and mp3's, try using CD's instead of DVD's. I have the best luck with Sony CD-R. Don't use CD-RW or DVD-RW... just -R.

And run Disk Utility to Repair Permissions. DU is in your MacintoshHD>Applications>Utility folder. Once DU loads, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, then click Repair Permissions. That can fix a myriad of problems right there.

I know that iTunes software only accepts CD's to burn to... I see you are using Toast... try CD's and see what happens.

Don't lose faith in the Mac OS. Sometimes it just take some patience to understand what clicks and what doesn't and that's true with any operating system, whether Windows or Mac.

Thanks for choosing Macosx.com and post back if you need further assistance.

Regards,
Carolyn :-)

Thank you very much for your answer Carolyn, though it's still hard to believe that in a should-be-state-of-the-art machine, like a new mac, it is not possible to burn a dvd that contains data only!!!!
Pretty disapointing...

Alejandro
