I have just purchased a new iMac (iMac#1) and intend to give the old iMac (iMac #2) to my kids so they can use it. I wanted to transfer one of the User accounts from the even older iMac (iMac #3) that the kids are using (but did not want to transfer all users from iMac #3 to iMac #2). I thought that I would copy the users home directory files to the user directory in iMac#2. When I did this, I created a new user in iMac #2 which matched the ur in iMac #3. This user's iTunes account did launch and while the entire iTunes library from this user's account in iMac#3 did transfer, the user can't launch any tunes that were purchased from the iTunes store and the error message reads a problem with the permissions or perhaps in th euser profile.

Any suggestions or can you describe another way to transfer one user from iMac#3 to iMac #2?

Thanks

I'll reopen this question for another tech to address your main question. However, the iTunes purchased song problem is simply a matter of authorizing iMac #2 (and, I'd recommend, deauthorizing iMac #3). You can do each of these tasks in the Store menu in iTunes on each Mac.
