Description:
I am currently using v7R6 of Quicken. For some period of time I have kept some of my son’s financial records for him. He is buying a PC (I’m thinking of disowning him) and I would like to transfer my records to his Quicken for Windows application. Quicken outlines a process for doing this that seems pretty straightforward but it leaves me with one large question. The last step in the process that Quicken outlines says “copy the QIF file onto a PC-formatted floppy disk if you want to import it into Quicken for Windows”. Will my Mac copy info on to a PC formatted Floppy? If so how do I do it? Do I just slip a PC floppy in to my Mac as I would with a Mac floppy or am I asking for trouble?

Dick,

Thanks for visiting No Wonder! I hope the info below helps.

There should be no problem in sticking a PC disk into your Mac and copying information to it. I do it all the time for work (I have to find a new job!). Most Macs come with a system extension called File Exchange that allows Mac to read PC disks and files. So as long as you follow the instruction in Quicken, it should be very simple to take the information to a PC disk and forward it to your son.

Unfortunately, I can't help with disowning your son. If you need any further assistance, let me know.

David
