TICKET ARCHIVE -> Trouble Printing Photographs with my Canon IP6000D

I have a Mac Powerbook running OSX 10.3.9 and a Canon IP6000D photo printer. I have tried endlessly to print a 4x6 photo and everytime I just get part of the picture making it on the glossy paper and the picture is much too large for the photo paper. I have tried loading in the top and loading in the cassette. I've tried using iphoto and cropping the photo to 4x6 and even smaller. When I choose print I do not get "Quality and Media" as a choice like the manuals indicate that I will. I exported the photo to my desktop and attempted to print from there with no success. Then I went to the Canon website and downloaded "Easy-Photo Print" and whenever I attempt to start the application it just crashes even though I have no other applications running at the time. I can not find any software on-line to uninstall the useless program, can I just drag it to the trash or are there lot of other aspects of it hidden in various locations? I just want to print a photo... I feel like a doofus. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

You weren't specific about this, so I'll ask - are you looking in the Copies & Pages menu for those two submenus Quality & Media?

When I print photos (photoshop elements), it is important to set up the print size in the application - are you certain you have found all of those settings, including page setup?

Yes, I clicked on Copies and Pages and I have multiple choices (i.e. Layout, Output Options, Color Sync...) but none are "Quality and Media". Strangely, I remember that used to be a choice with a previous printer. I have searched iPhoto up and down trying to find all the places to change my print size to 4x6 and the only place I can find it is under "Edit" and "Constrain". I was able to choose Page Setup before and choose different paper sizes but now it's acting buggy and not allowing me to access the scroll down menu. Do you know how I can uninstall that Easy-Photo print software? I think it's causing new problems... I've exported the photo and tried to print it from Preview. I've opened it in Photoshop and made it 4x6 and still the printer will print only part of the picture on the 4x6 paper. I'm loading the paper just as the Canon manual instructs and I've tried the cartridge and the feeder. I don't know what I'm doing wrong Thanks for trying to help me.

I don't think I can help any more - I don't have Easy-Photo, I don't use iPhoto, I don't have a Canon.
I'll return this to the rest of the Techs.

Siriadi,

It sounds like you have the wrong paper size set up in the "Page Setup".

Go to the "File" menu in iPhoto and select "Page Setup". Here you need to set the paper size you wish to work with.

Also, just to be sure, make sure you have your IP6000 printer selected in the drop down menu you should see in the print dialogue window after selecting "Print"

Note that by cropping your prints to 4x6 does NOT mean they print at 4inch x 6 inch size. It just allows you to crop your pictures to that aspect ratio and allows you print on that sort of paper. Indeed, if your paper was 4 feet by 6 feet (and if your printer could use such paper!) you would still crop using the same technique. You would select a paper size of 4ft x 6ft in the Page Setup though rather than 4inch x 6 inch.

let me know how you get on. If this does not work for you we shall dig a bit deeper. let me know if you are able to print anything correctly, like text from a work processor for eg.

regards

tom
