I was following a post about connecting a Linksys WRT54G router to my Mac G4 with an airport card. I have the same issue of after going to the TCP/IP and making sure that using DHDP is selected and hitting apply now that an IP address would appear..but nothing happens. Any thought?

Thanks, Suzy

I have used my Mac with a DSL router (2Wire)and using the Airport card...no problems. I have since bought this Linksys wrt45g router and am using Comcast Cable for my internet. I was able to connect my Dell desktop and HP laptop with no problems. But when I try to connect my husbands Mac, it sees the network name I have created and when I select it it takes me to a login box with WPA Personal selected as the security and then it asks for the password. So I have been putting the 22 digit key that I used for the other computers with and without a "$" sign in front (which is what the Linksys tech suggested). The error message is error in password. The Linksys tech talked me thru some diagnosting and realized that there is no IP address as I stated before. The CD that comes with the setup won't work on Macs so the Linksys tech had no more answers for me. Hopefully this will give more insight. Thanks, Suzy

On one of the computers that's succesfully connected, go to your management page for your Linksys through a web browser (type http://192.168.1.1 to get there).

Make sure you're broadcasting in both b and g wireless modes. If your non working computer has a regular Airport card then you can only receive b signals. An Airport Express can receive both b and g.

Mac passwords can be a bit problematic, and I don't think you can use a WPA password for a mac unless certain specs are satisfied. Specifically, you need to be running Mac OS X 10.3 or higher to use WPA passwords:
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/wire...12/18/wap.html

Since you can see the network, I believe that the WPA password is the issue. Either upgrade the comps OS or change the password to hexadecimal.

Let me know now this goes.

I have an Airport card not Express and version 10.4.10, but I am not sure about how to change the password to hexadecimal. Can you talk me thru that process?

Read my post above with the 192 number. You have to log into the router on a computer connected to it in order to get to wireless settings.

See your Linksys user manual for more instructions if you need them.
