Hello. I'm having trouble uninstalling old flash player from my hard drive. I need this step in order to download Flash Player 9. I've got the .dmg file from the adobe website. Whenever I click the uninstall button I get the spinning wheel. This goes on for hours and doesn't stop. I have to force quit it. I'm running OS 10.2.8. Thank you.........Legdrop

Are you saying the installer won't install Flash without manually uninstalling the old version. Normally, it will just overwrite the old version with the new.

If you must, you'll find the Flash plugins in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins.

hi, Ben. I've tried to install flash player 9 previously. It show 12 items to be installed. When it gets to 4 it just freezes up. I've post here in the past about this problem. Well after several attempts nothing has changed. Finally I got to my wits end and gave up. Well after about 3 months I decided to give it another shot. This time I checked with Adobe web site first under "trouble shooting." That's where I read about the uninstall previous Flash players. Under my "library" I don't have a macromedia flash player. There are 7 items. #1 DRM plugin.bundle. #2 Java Applet.plugin. #3 nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt. #4 Windows Media Plugin. #5 Java Applet Plugin Enabler. #6 JavaPluginCocoa.bundle. #7 QuickTimePlugin.plugin.

And this is the Library at the root of your hard disk? There's a separate LIbrary in your Home folder. Actually, make sure to check both Libraries for Internet Plug-Ins. If you don't find Flash either place, I guess you truly don't have it, in which case I'm not sure what else to suggest and will reopen your query.

I some how fixed it. I was on myspace and at the top of firefox it showed that I did not have the correct plugin to view the page correctly. So i clicked on it and it took me to a small window. From there I installed Flash Player 9. It was with ease. I'm not sure what was different, but it worked. Thank you for your help. I am so happy now. My daughter can finally play all the Barney, Wiggles and other kid games now. And I can view YouTube. Thanks again!!!.........Legdrop

The difference was having Firefox install the plug-in rather than doing it yourself manually. Glad it works!
