i recently had os x on my system and a friend began installing os x Server on to it, but relized he had only one CD how can i get back to my old operating system

Hi Mikey,
If your friend started installing OS X Server, and there is a partial install, you'll more than likely have to reinstall your original operating system from scratch unfortunately.
If you install multiple OS's on a machine, it's best to do it in multiple partitions.
