I have a few .zip files that i need to unzip. They were originally zipped with a Windows program (winzip). I have installed Stuffit as this software claimed it could do this. Every time it asks for the decryption passphase to unzip the file i enter the password i was given and it sais that the passphrase could not be matched. Could this be different from the password?

I have installed Zippit to unzip the files but i need to register to get the version that enables decrypting.

These files are very important and i urgently need help.

Does anyone know of any reliable free unzip software that can unzip files made with pc?

Thanks Steve

Steven,
Normally, encrypted ZIP archive (made on PCs with WinZip for instance) requires an password (single word) to unlock.
Perhaps the password given to you is incorrect ?
If the error message speaks about "Passphrase", perhaps is this archive encrypted with a stronger encryption method, like the PGP tool ?

I am not sure about the stonger encryption method as i was told it was a simple zip. i may have to try unzipping on a pc and then transferring the files myself. Thanks for the reply
