I recently installed Mac OS 10.1 onto my old iMac G3. But when I try to install Mac OS 10.1.1 there is an error. The error is when I am selecting the destination disk. It won't let me select the Hard Drive as the destination disk. It won't even let me highlight it. It is "Dim"

Please help

If you refer to this article
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88279
you will see that you cannot update 10.1, until updating the updater (which is what the security update does...)
So, you will need to download and install this update first
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120136

then you can install 10.1.5 combined updater - you don't need to do this a step at a time -10.1.1, then 10.1.2, and so on. Just donwload and install the 10.1.5 combined update from here - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=122011

I tried installing the security update but I encountered the same problem as before. I cannot select the Hard Drive as the destination disk.
Help!

Can you recheck the version of OS X that you are running?
Look under the Apple (About this Mac), and tell me exactly which version of OS X that lists?
Should be 10.1, and cannot be anything newer? (such as 10.1.5)

Another hint that will help: Connect to the internet, and launch your System Preferences/Software Update, and check for updates. That will show you exactly what your system needs to update.

I double checked and my computer is running Mac OS X 10.1
My computer only has 160 mb of RAM, could that be the problem.
I don't have internet access on my computer. But my family owns a G5 with internet that I use.

Thanks for your help so far

This is the correct download, and this is required to install before you can install any later system updates for 10.1.x
Download this update again, and try installing it.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120136

If it still refuses to let you select the install drive:
Open your /Library/Reciepts folder, and delete ALL files that have 'Security' as part of the file name, and more likely will have the letters 'secupd' somewhere in that name. Delete all that you find. Do not delete other files. Then, logout and log back in (or simply restart your Mac), and try the updates again.

Let me know how it goes.
