I am thinking that I should take the plunge and update to OS Tiger, I have an emac of which I am very fond as it is so amazing and reliable OSX 2.8. Are there any problems out there that I need to be aware of. The emac will read the Tiger DVD will it? I have never played a dvd on this machine. I have 26.44 GB available, is this enuogh to run tiger satisfactorily? I am a technophobe no doubt you can tell. Reason for upgrade is I want to get SketchUp v.5. any reassurance or tips would be most appreciated. Best Wishes

Hi James,

In theory, Tiger should install fine on your current machine (assuming you have a dvd drive and a minimum of 256MB Physical RAM).

You can check if your eMac has a DVD player by:

Going to the Apple Menu
Selecting About 'This Info'
Then select the 'More Info'
Under the 'Hardware' section select 'ATA'
This should confirm if you have a combo drive.

In the event you do not have a combo (dvd/cdrw drive) you can order Tiger on CD media for a nominal charge, on www.apple.com/store.

Hope this Helps
