i need to know how high in panther i can go before quicktime goes to 7.last year i had upgraded osx 10.3.9 and it crippled my pro tools le 6.4 studio and i was out of commision.i now have osx 10.3.5 which is ok but i want to get the os as high as i can because somethings are totally outdated..but i cannot have quicktime 7 so i have to make sure that doesnt happen again.
so what is the difference between os 10.3.5 & 6/7 or 8 and will my quicktime stay at version 6.5.1.dont want any bugs..
thanks Benny

p.s if i could afford it i would get all new stuff..i cant right now.so this is my only option

If you upgrade to 10.3.9 - you are then offered the update to QuickTime 7.
You are not forced to upgrade to 7 until you upgrade your Mac OS to 10.4 or higher.
You can then choose to ignore any Quicktime update. It will not update unless you choose to do that.

You should check with support at the DigiDesign web site. The support/compatibility page says that you should not upgrade past 10.3.8

You won't notice any differences, Those are mostly internal.

At the screen where you see that exclamation point - go to Options. Then choose the Archive & Install option. That's the only easy way to revert to an older OS. Then install with the 10.3.7 or 10.3.8 combined installer. You will need to download that updater separately from the Apple web site, as your Software Update will only show the 10.3.9 combo updater.
