You can add a PCI card and get 3-5 USB 2.0 ports on that. You can't upgrade the already present ports.

If you buy a PCI card for this, it will be best to get a card that uses the NEC chips. I found this helpful:
Best bet is any card with a NEC PD72101 chipset
Stick with the NEC chip, and try NOT to use drivers, Tiger doesn't need the drivers.

All of these Cards are NEC chipset based
Adaptec 3100LP
BAFO BF-460
Belkin F5U220
GWC UC-160
IOGear GIC250U
Keyspan U2PCI-5
O'toLink U2-C2B
O'toLink U2-C2A
O'toLink U2-P20N
O'toLink U2-P50
Ratoc PCIU5
USBWholesale UII-PCIP

If you're buying from eBay, look to see if the large chip on the card clearly says NEC on it.

And by the way, I use cards with the VIA chipset (require driver) and they work fine for me.
