hi!
I am going from pc to mac, and having problems conneting to my printer using a D-link Router DI-824VUP+ which have a printerserver in it. My HP PSC 1410 printer connets to the router by USB, and it works well on my pc running windows xp. The router comes with printer server software, but only for windows. Here the printer is configured as a PRTmate, and uses the router ip adress.
I can't find the printer on my mac, can anybody help my?
thanks
Morten

Two issues -
Driver - HP's driver doesn't do network printing, because it bypasses the OS X CUPS system (print spool system). You need CUPS drivers for network printing. Install hpijs and ESP ghostscript from:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
Your specific model isn't in there, but you need both of those parts plus the PSC1400 PPD from:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...um=HP-PSC_1400
When you ADD in printer Setup, for model select "other" which give you a file selector box so you can choose this PPD.

Print Server Setup - Since we don't have the same auto-setup software as on Window$, we have to read the manual closely to find out what protocol to use, etc. I believe your built-in print server uses the HP etdirect protocol, which is called TCP/IP raw port printing in most manuals. If that doesn't work, come back.

Edit doesn't work - I meant to say HP Jetdirect protocol.

I have tried but no succes. It works as to find the printer in the printerbrowser, but ones it needs to connet and print, it dosen't work - it keeps trying to send to the printer but no luck. I don't know were to find this TCP/IP raw port printing settings, is that in my router setup or...?

thanks

I hope you have the router manual so you can read there. It will tell you what protocols the print server accepts.
I downloaded the manual....

It looks like you should use IP printer > LPD. Where it asks for queue name you should enter lp (small el-p).
