I just bought a usb digital/ webcam. I'm running 10.3.9 on a powerpc G4. iphoto recognizes the cam and and has no problem importing the pictures. The problem is no application is recognizing it as a webcam. ichat and yahoo messenger both state "there is no webcam attached to this computer".

I'm new to the mac world, so I'm still using my pc rationale when dealing with these issues. Hope you can help.

Best Regards

Hi travis,

The problem is that drivers for macs aren't usually included in usb webcams. What you can do is visit the following site

http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/

if your camera is on the list, then this application can help to get it working with iChat

good luck

Ok, got a hold of macam which seems to be working. It says there's another app using the cam. How do I find out which one is using it?

Thanks for helping. I truly, TRULY appreciate it.

Hi travis,

i'm not too up on the issues with macam. the best i can suggest is close everything, if this doesn't change the message, have a look at the help pages of ecamm.

i would say possibly iphoto?

good luck

sam
