I'm currently running MacOSX10.5.2 on a PowerMacG5. My Verbtim firewire hard drive will not eject. Informs me that files are in use (when none are). I've tried dragging to trash, using finder to eject, but nothing works.

Hello Barbara

welcome to macosx.com and I will try to assist you.

Yes there seems to be a bug in Leopard that sometimes makes it refuse to eject/unmount removable media or virtual disks from .dmg images sometimes.

Exactly what causes it I am not sure - it is far less common in 10.5.2 than previously - but not gone... when it occurs you usually find you cannot unmount anything until you have logged out at least...

It is an annoying but I guess ultimately harmless glitch as far as I can tell. Usually I find after logging off/restarting the problem will go away and might not reappear for ages...

Hope that is some help
