Have you ever used AOL Instant Messenger? If so, the experience is pretty much the same. Using iChat you can use your .mac name to sign on, then you can chat with anyone who has a .mac account or a free AOL Instant messenger account (
http://aim.com)
To add people to your buddy list in iChat, you click on the big plus (+) sign on the lower left-hand corner, then click new person. It will ask you if the person has an AIM (AOL) or .Mac name, then what name that is. Then click Add. (you can also include other information, and it will be added to your address book, such as their name and e-mail address). When they are online, they will show up on your buddy list and all you have to do is double click on their name and start to type. Click and hold down the Apple (also known as command) key and select other people in the buddy list, then double click on any of them, to open a chat with more than one person. Add a camera such as apple's iSight or a DV Camcorder and you can do a video chat as well. Other people should be able to ad you to their buddy list with your
name@mac.com identity using AIM.
