DESCRIPTION:

Concerning my Diamond Fire GL 1000 Video card - On a lot of games a video card needs to be VESA-compliant in order to play in high resolution mode. I thought the Diamond Fire was VESA-compliant, but I get a non-VESA compliant message when I try to play some games in high resolution mode. How can I or can I make my Card VESA-compliant. Can I download a VESA driver and install it own my system, or what. Thanks

Hi Ronald and welcome to NoWonder.

VESA was an old standard for high-resolution video modes back in the days when games were mostly DOS-based. Nowadays, most video cards are aimed at the Windows platform, and come with drivers, thus no longer needing VESA support.

( they've replaced the funny little VESA acronym with tons of others, like OpenGL and DirectX and those... )

But, for non-VESA cards, SciTech Software still makes its VESA suite called SciTech Display Doctor.

You can learn more about it at this URL:

hope this helps.
