I have a Macintosh Power Pc G3 with a 300Mhz processor and 272 mb of memory. I have been trying to install "Connectix Virtual PC 2.1" for Macintosh. I meet all system requirments....they are
processor= any g3 (i have a g3)
Mac OS= 8.0 or later ( i have osx version 10.2.8, and 9.2.2 classic)
hard disk space= 280 MB minimum (i have 2gb)
ram= 64mb recommended( i have 272)
cd-rom= yes (of coarse i have 1, dvd actually)
so as you see i meet all requirments but the program just wont work.
it installs just fine but when i try to run it, it opens and freezes, the rest of the computer freezes also, all except the mouse. I end up just cycling power, can anybody please help me? im new to the mac thing. you can email me at
nickolus12181@yahoo.com. I'd appreciate it.

I've been hunting for some information about that old version of VPC. It's very hard to find anything, I think you will find out that it's not compatible with OS 9, and especially the updated version that you have. 9.2.2 is an update designed to assist with the Classic environment in OS X. and some software that is marginal will refuse to work with that version. Virtual PC, because of the resources that it needs to run a second operating system is tied heavily into the internal workings of the Mac OS, so updates to the MacOS also would demand updates to VPC.
I don't have a clue where you could find updates to get that to work, but if you can find a copy of version 4, that would be a good start.

well, ive searched all night for version 4 and apperantly connectix isnt even around anymore. i cant find anything except version 7 which requires an intel based mac which i do not have. do you know of any windows emulator like vpc that will run on my mac and possibly where to get it? thank you

Connectix was sold to Microsoft a few years ago, and quickly disappeared.
If you open a thread in the forums at the main macosx.com site - someone should help you with an old version of Virtual PC.
Just for your information, you will be unlikely to run any Windows newer than Win95, maybe Win98, if you are lucky. Windows XP will likely be impossible. Probably the best at that old version of VPC would be DOS 6

I just recently found out about a program called "Darwine" for OSx. can you tell me anything about it, and is there a version that'll run on 10.2.8, all i could locate only ran on 10.3 or later.
