How large should the partition be to run Vista Ultimate on a MacBook Pro? Can Parallels AND Bootcamp be installed and Vista run by choosing either Parallels or Bootcamp?

Dear Michael,

My name is Vinko and I will attempt to assist you.

Please note that Bootcamp is an Apple technology to allow you to boot up your Mac into your copy of Windows installed.

Depending on your needs for using Windows Vista. There is really no need to use Bootcamp to run Windows OS, if you already have Parallels. As your MBP using Parallels is fast enough.

For Parallels I suggest you leave all default settings at first to see if the performance is good enough.

If you insist on using Bootcamp to run Windows, then the size of the partition for the Windows disk will depend on what applications you will be installing into Windows Vista. You can add up the minimum disk requirements for the applications you will be installing into Windows and then Vista.

This is another reason why using Parallels exclusively for running Windows on your MBP is preferred. If you install Windows using Parallels, you can set Parallels' to dynamically allocate the amount of space to use.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
