I'm trying to connect to a Mac Pro with VNC on another network but cannot connect and I would like to troubleshoot what I'm doing wrong. These are some facts that should help: I know the external IP for the mac I'm connecting to, I enabled remote desktop on the mac, I'm using Chicken of the VNC, and I opened port 22 TCP/UDP while troubleshooting to see if SSH would help (obviously it didn't). I also cannot connect to it on FTP when it's activated on the preferences even with port 21 TCP/UDP open. I hope you can make sense of this. Thanx.
I haven't used remote desktop, but I have used Share My Desktop for the server end with Chicken on the viewing end, and think you might want to try that -- it is freeware and makes it all pretty simple. You can get it here:

Also make sure your firewall is set to allow the ports access that you are using.
