This seems like a simple question: is there a way to do voice chat (i.e. Internet phone) over the internet for users on different platforms? Specifically, I'm runing Mac OS X 10.2 and my chat partner is running a PC (version unknown, Windows xp.) My ibook is too old to do Skype.
I dont think I can get i chat av with my ibook. Mine is version 10.2.8
I dont really want to buy tiger X or what ever it is.
what can i do?
hi tyler,
if you don't want to change your system software, there are third party voice chat programs.Have a search on the internet and you will find solutions. i looked for a minute and found these
http://www.haxial.com/products/kdx/ http://www.fwnetwork.com/voice_chat/
also AIM (the one i mentioned before) has both Mac and PC versions.
i would suggest though upgrading to OS 10.3. This is not the latest software (that is tiger as you mentioned, or OSX 10.4) but 10.3 is more stable on older machines that 10.2.8, and you get iChat AV free.
hope this helps
good luck
sam
