Hi Bob

It means your hard drive is filled up. You should always have at least 15% of free space on your drive.

Give me the name of the program and the link where you're downloading from so I can look at it.

Ok

Most likely a problem with the program you're trying to download if you have plenty of space on your drive.

i thought so as well, but, this is a widely used program, and ive tried to erase it and re-download it again. it worked at the begining, but now theres no room for it. im pretty sure that ive completely erased it all before i downloaded it again. if not, how can i be sure that ive completely erased a program out of my computer?

I'm not a cop, and don't give out names of people using illegal programs/software.

If the program you're having a problem with is Limewire, you should just trash it and forget about it. It's been causing a lot of problems.

its mac the ripper. someone is trying to remove decryption off dvd's to burn them with roxio popcorn. but, after trying to use it a couple of times, it says that there is not enough space, and freeing up space is whats needed on the volume.

You need to look for the Video_TS folders somewhere on the drive, where ever MacTheRipper puts them. If you've tried a couple times, you could have a build up of large files, since DVD's can be as large as 9GB or over. In that case, there would be 18GB of these files on your drive somewhere.

Open the Terminal application in your Utility folder. At the Prompt ($) paste this into the window;

find ~ -mtime -7

hit return

This should list any files in your home directory modified within the last week

i still cant find the video files, is there another way to find them?

Bob

Open MacTheRipper and under the Filke Menu you'll see Save To. Open that and it should be set to where any files were saved to.

You can also download a program called WhatSize to see any files and find the large ones;

flike? whats that? that program was downloaded and files were found under the mac the ripper application, but im not sure if that is the video files or not. regardless, it wasn't allowing them to be trashed.

You can trash the files this way;

Open the Terminal Application (in Utilities folder) and type:

cd ~/.Trash
hit return

sudo rm -rf

put a space after the f and drag the item you want deleted to the terminal so that its path is automatically entered, then press return

give it your admin password and hit return
