Hi guys,
I have a small business with three users in the office network. We use an Airport Extreme station and iMacs. The question is:
How can I enable us to connect to the office network from home to get access to the files on the computers (at least one particular of them) in the office?

Can I use the Airport Extreme to create a VPN connection or do we need to put a OSX server in the network for this. Other ideas?

VPN connection is done in the router. If your router/firewall has that functionality you can configure the router to accept VPN connections from you and you can thereby access your company network from home. I use Cisco VPN client (because we have a Cisco router), type in the IP and connect. Then you can access all shared folders (the ones YOU have access to normally) on the computers in your network.
If you instead use programs like VNC you can do anything on your company computer, from home. Check http://www.vnc.com/.

Thanks,
our current router does not support this so I need to get a new one. Any recommendations for what will work with Macs? We use OSX 10.3.9 and have an ADSL connection.

I have had a look at Linksys (Ciscos) products, but they do not seem very Mac-compatible.

Best regards
Øyvind

Try Netgear's VPN firewall/routers. They are quite easy to set up, through a web interface, just type 192.168.1.1, in your browser and then go with DHCP.
