DeskTop G5 OS X .3? .2?

"waiting printing services" this is the issue. It just stays stuck on
this.

What is new: the day before I got the DSL running with the verzion mac person. It finally worked after an hour. I went on line and down loaded update for OS X .3? .4? and safari. I started the download the update for .3?.4? and left the apt.

The next day I saw that nothing was happening so I restarted...and "waiting printing services" when booting up started.... I restarted with and with out the modem on. I tried "safe" boot (which I am not even sure what this does- same problem. Also with and without the modem on.

I found the orginal software, it comes on 2 disks. I am nervous about putting it in and wiping out everything. And which one do I use anyway?

Looking on line, this was the only site that I found that addresses this issue. I am at work so i haven't been able to try the post about the AppleCare advice. I am not even sure if I should try it. THANKS

It seems most likely that you had a failed update. Try these two things one at a time and then restart after each to see if it is fixed.

1. Repair the hard drive. See "Try Disk Utility" in this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214

2. Download the Combo Updater and re-update with it. Combo means combination of previous updates.

Thank you I will try that tonight. But on last question: the article says to "Try Disk Utility- Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer." Mine came with two disks. DO I use 1 or 2? Thanks

Use disk #1
By the way, it is important for you to know which OS version you are using, so you can Download the latest Combo updater for that version. Combo updaters are quite big - 70-180 Megabytes.
Since you say you only have two install disks, I'm guessing you have OS X 10.4 (Tiger). If so, here is the link to that Combo:

I tried the Disk Utility and it didn't work. It still stays stuck on on waiting printing services when rebooting. Any other suggestions (hopefully)?

How about the Combo updater?

After that, my suggestion is to reinstall OS X using the Archive & Install option in the installer.
