I have a new MacBook and I've just switched from Windows XP on my PC. My home page is Kansascity.com. However, I can't get any of the videos to play. This happens on beelinetv.com, also. The Apple support staff said I need plug ins for these web pages. I've tried to download Flash 9, but this didn't help. Other downloads were rejected, such as one to update QuickTime. Can you help me? Thanks.

Kansas City's videos are in Windows Media format, so you need Windows Media Player to play them. The WMP download is in Stuffit's .sitx format, so be sure you've installed Stuffit Expander first. You can find WMP on VersionTracker.com.
http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/exp-downloadv.html

Then, you have two choices. The Windows Media plugin for Safari won't work natively on your Intel-based Mac. The only way to force it to work is to run Safari in Rosetta, the PowerPC emulation environment. You can do this in the Finder by Getting Info on Safari.

Alternatively, you can eliminate the /play.asx from the Kansas video links and copy/paste the rest to Safari's Download window to download the videos. Then, you can open them in WMP.

As noted by another technician, we're looking forward to the Universal Binary release of Flip4Mac's Windows Media Components for QuickTime, which will integrate the WM plugin fully.
