What is the ideal webpage maker for an online business?

Hi, and welcome to macosx.com support,
This very much depends on your business and available resources. I've set up very simple business websites using the (free) WordPress blogging system, with a few plugins and a little customisation to the theme you can achieve a very nice result.
In the mid range, I use a fairly simple program called RapidWeaver, a simple, fairly graphical program for making web pages. There are many opthers in thsi class.
If you have the resources, the industry standard still seems to be Dreamweaver, now owned by Adobe. Its more complex and certainly the most expensive option, but in the hands of a professional makes the best sites as I understand it.
What kind of business is it and what resources do you have available to you?

Hi Owen,
I only knew Dreamweaver IS a webmaking software last week so by that you can judge my 'expertise' in this field though it's not a problem for me to learn.
However like you said, Dreamweaver's software is expensive and I would like to go for a more cheaper software to know my way around. Can iWeb produce a business website or it is design to be more family orientated? For me I only need to display stuffs and perhaps plugins such as payment gateway or things like that. Any suggestion?

Hi Rizwan,
Well iWeb is pretty family orientated, as you say. I only got hold of RapidWeaver (
http://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/) recently, but have been impressed. Its is fairly graphical, and effectively uses page templates to make sure oyur pages are consistent. There are also a fairly large range of plugins for it (the best list is on the wikipedia page for RapidWeaver at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapidweaver, plus you can download a demo from their website. It sounds like its close to what you need.
For other options there is a nice list at
http://www.pure-mac.com/webed.html with prices and features (though it covers some things that aren't what you want too). In the area you are lookng, basically web site creation cheaper than Dreamweaver, there are many options. In general I suggest downloading demos and having a go to find one you are comfortable with.
In terms of payment systems, in my experience in this area, the easiest is to use the PayPal payment system, where people click through from your website to paypal, as they manage all of the card and bank processing. There is no monthly fee and their rates are pretty good. Details at

Hope this helps,

Haven't heard back from you in a couple of days, and i think the ticket will automatically close soon. Are things going ok? Do you have any other questions?
Hope the business is going well,
