Hello Anthony,

The term that you used was "mimmie" when it realy is MIME. It is not encryption but is a file format used for picture files for Macs. By comparison, for PCs they generally are formatted using "uuencoded" format.

Another factor that can affect whether or not a PC owner can open a file sent "Mac to a PC" is if the originator used a file name that a PC will recognize such as <.jpg>, <.bmp> or <.gif>. Conversely, PC users often try to send Mac users files whose names Macs normally do not recognize such a <.txt> and <.doc>.

Unfortunately, I think that the computer industry has not donew a very good job of explaining how to communicate between Mac and PC users (and vica versa).

The latest Netscape and IE browsers do have ways to format your outgoing attachments "MIME" and "uuencode". File names can still create prblems for the unknowing recipient. Setting browser "helper/applications" in the browser Prefs. windows is also beneficial for these various attachments so that they open automatically with the software you have on your hard disk.

Take a look at a shareware progrtam named Lemke's Graphic Converter. You may find it very useful. You will be able to locate it through

It is only $35 and is a fantastic aid for use with attached photo files.
