When I import a photoshop image into Illustrator I get bands accross the gradient that I have done in Illustrator, Is there a reason for this? It doesn't appear on my photoshop doc.
Thank you

Howdy!

Remember that Illustrator creates an 8-bit preview of your placed image so it's not actually the full resolution image you're looking at; even if it's a 300dpi tif or psd.

Also remember that gradients in photoshop are prone to banding, even in their full res state. I've used an "Add Noise" technique (very light) that disturbs the horizontal lines just enough to ensure the moire patterns don't occur.

Save your illustrator as a pdf file to your desktop to see how your file will end up (and print it too as a real test) when it is ripped for printing.

Let me know how it goes.
