Hi. I've posted two questions in the past week that have not appeared. What am I doing wrong?

I'm confused about what you are asking. if your questions don't show up, then how is this question about the question showing up? and questions about the site itself and about posting questions need to be directed here:

This is the first time the question has shown up since I started posted the last two question. I have a problem concerning a recording on a cd....I need to "lift" four songs from it as it was recorded as one long track. And I need to know how to do it (commercial music/songs/etc are not involved here). But I've attempted to put that up twice and haven't seen it. So, there shouldn't be any confusion now. (Hopefully). It's the old story, like when you're on the cell phone: The other person can't hear you but you keep saying "Can you hear me?" until either or both hang up. If I could hear you asking the question I could hear you, right? :-)

regarding your missing questions... are you registered as a tech support opp? If not, you will not be able to get access to the page that contains the questions. The questions are for personal, one to one help and consequently, only for the eyes of the registered "helpers". If you are a tech and are certain you posted these questions correctly then you should PM the site manager.

regarding your CD track question I can suggest two ways...

In itunes insert your CD. Un-check the blue squares of any track you don't wish to import. Select the tracks you wish to join (use apple key and mouse click to select more than one track) and go the "advanced" menu and select "join tracks". now click on the import button and your tracks will be taken as one joined up file. remember you can set the format of the lifted track (eg MP3, WAV etc) in the itunes preferences (advanced section, with importing button selected). If you want the file on your desktop, just drag it from the itunes library list window.

The other way is to just lift the tracks in the usual way and then open ALL the files in quicktime (drag the file onto the quicktime application) take the SECOND track in quicktime and select "select all" from the edit menu. Now select "copy" from the edit menu. Now click on the first track you've opened in quicktime, move the marker to the end of the track and now select "paste" from the edit menu. You've now essentially edited the second track to the end of the first track. you can copy and paste the other tracks on the end of your current edit in the same fashion. This sounds a lot more complicated than it really is! Once you're done copy-pasting, go to the file menu and select "save as", give the edited audio a name but also check the box next to "make self contained"

feel free to get back to me if you need further advice

regards

Tom

thanks. I didn't see this for months. I found out that iTUNES (or any software for that matter) will allow me to "name the tracks" that is, burn the names of the tracks on the CD. I downloaded Audio Hijack, a great program for making CDs at $39. (I went with PRO as it has equalization, etc). But what I discovered, much to my surprise actually, that when I burn a CD and give it to someone to listen to, if they don't have iTUNES or just want to put it into their system (or car to listen to), the information for the cd is track 1, track 2, track 3 vs. the playlist information. I guess I thought that if I created a playlist and gave the cd to someone, that they would be able to "read" the titles on the cd. Which, is not the case. So, since this question, I've figured out by using Audio Hijack Pro that I could separate the one long track into fifteen short songs, titled them all, save them in the playlist and burn the cd/playlists. People that have iTunes can read the titles; people that don't have to refer to the printed sheet I send them.
