This might be a really obvious stupid question but, as my username suggests, I'm not good with computers!
I used to have quite an old version of itunes but then downloaded itunes 7.3.1. This obviously replaced my old itunes icon in the toolbar. However, when I tried to open it, it said that it required Mac OS X 10.4.7 but I only have 10.4.
I do not want to download Mac OS X 10.4.7 and just want to uninstall itunes 7.3.1 so I can get my old itunes back. To do this do you just drag it to the trash? And will this mean that I will lose all the music I bought back when I had the old version of itunes?
Some easy to follow advice would be very much appreciated!
All of your music is stored in your Music folder. iTunes is simply an organizational application for managing your library, not for containing it. The iTunes Library files contain all of the associated tags that define your music (ratings, play dates, etc.) that aren't stored in the music files individually.
You would be remiss if you didn't run Software Update to capture any available updates to your system, including 10.4.11. Your Mac will run so much better with them and you will be updated to the latest version of iTunes, too.

Thanks, I do intend on updating my laptop soon but am waiting until I get broadband. For the moment though, if I was to uninstall the itunes I currently have, would my old one automatically reappear or what?
No. If you install iTunes, it's new state of existence will be not on your computer. There's no other version hiding anywhere. That's silly. You can download iTunes from the Web. If you don't suffer from a frequently disconnecting dial-up connection, I recommend running Software Update overnight to capture updates, rather than waiting until you have broadband.
If you must, you can download previous versions of iTunes via its
VersionTracker page.
