I have a computer lab at a high school. I've been using a mac osx server in my lab which has both macs and winxp clients. After installing an update file, my winxp clients couldn't log in to their individual folders, although a public folder on the server is accessable. My admin log on still works, but my students accounts do not. Please advise.
Thanks,
qwoo

HI Quintin :-)

Hello, my name is Carolyn and I will try to assist you.

Are you a teacher by chance? Kudos to you!

You indicated that the problem didn't exist until
you did an update? Since the Mac is the server, was it on the Mac you did the update? And exactly which update was it?
You are running 10.2.8 and the Wins are XP. You can log in but your students can't log onto their machines??? I'm just trying to get a clear as picture as possible in order to troubleshoot the problem.

How are you networking the Macs and Wins? and how are they networked to the server Mac? Do the Macs and Wins on the network have access to the internet???

You've probably already checked this out, but I'll drop the link anyway... you might find something that helps:
http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/

and here:

Is there a Help Viewer in the Workgroup Manager? Another link for WorkGroup Help and Manuals:

Quintin, get back to me on the info I need so I can further assist you! And thank you for choosing Macosc.com for your tech support needs.

Carolyn :-)

HI Quintin,

Thanks so much for the positive feedback. I am so glad that the computers are "talking"... networking can prove to be a challenge for the most experienced of Mac/Windows tech support people. While I don't always get the situation under control the first time, I try try again until I get it right or get more help for the issue at hand.

Thanks Quintin... have a wonderful holiday!
Carolyn :-)
