My windows media player has decided to quit each time I try to open it. What's more, it's locked so I can't dump it in the trash or open it now: it's just stuck there like a big silly gates icon on my desktop.

Unfortunately I have some things in wmv format I need . My VLC player won't open them either.

I've tried downloading wmp again but it makes no dofference. I don't knoe if there's an uninstall on it but, seeing as I can't open it, it makes no difference.

Help!

Microsoft is no longer supporting the WMP for the Mac, and, in fact, they recommend downloading and installing the free WMP player from Flip4Mac

i tried the Flip4mac tonight and it's good for about 1 movie then it starts doing silly things like the icon refusing to disappear and then it keeps freezing safari.

There's a version 2.0, and also a version 2.0.1, both available to download.
Make sure that you have downloaded the current version 2.0.1 direct from the flip4mac site.

Thanks for the excellent advice. So far this version of Flip4mac appears to be working fine.
