I downloaded windows media player and and it worked fine on the site I needed it for until yesterday. Now nothing will play not even quick time, it just leaves a blank screen. I go to online chat sessions on blackboard for school and that will not work either, the chat program will not pop up. I bought this comp for school because of how stable they are. Thank u very much.
macbook pro
version 10.4.9

Hi Stewsef,
Welcome to macosx.com tech support. Microsoft don't actually recommend WMP for mac any more, instead they suggest the Flip4Mac plugin, available free at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...omponents.mspx ) which allows QuickTime to play wmv content. Give that ago instead.
Hope this helps,
Owen

Thanks ill try that. One more thing, this all happend with I did the osx update. Now another problem has arrived, the comp will not sleep, it stays on and gets very hot. I downloaded the software update that was suppose to fix the problems but it made it worse! Crazy ...thank Owen

Hi Stew,
I imagine you mean the 10.4.9 update. The best fix tends to be to download the 'combo' updater, which is some 310mb, and use that (its at
http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...dateintel.html ) as these tend to be better than the incremenatl updaters (as in 10.4.8-->10.4.9).
Give that a go and let me know if it makes a difference.
