My windows media player wasn't working on my ibook, so I put it in the trash and I did this because it wouldn't delete.

Open the Terminal Application (in Utilities folder) and type:

cd ~/.Trash

sudo rm -rf

put a space after the f and drag the item you want deleted to the terminal so that its path is automatically entered, then press return

give it your admin password and hit return

I tried to go back to windows and download version 9 again and my computer won't install it or open it. It asks what application I want to use to open the download. What steps should I take to reinstall Windows Media Player to my computer?

Ok, then you need Stuffit to Expand that file.
You can download it for free here;
