I have a new Macbook Pro laptop with Windows XP Pro and Parallels Desktop preloaded on it. I am a Mac fan but had been using a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop and did not want to lose all of my software investments. The problem is that when I try to update the WIN XP software I get a message saying "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. Error Code 0x80072EE2". I have been to the Microsoft site and other PC support sites and tried their suggestions but did not work. I even downloaded a program by Microsoft that was supposed to fix this error problem but it did not work. Therefore, I thought it might be a problem with the Mac, Parallels, and WIN XP combination. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

This is the info about the computer itself:

Try this:
1. Open Parallels Desktop
2. Select Network Adapter
3. Ensure both "Device Status" boxes are checked
4. Select "Bridged Ethernet" under "Emulation"

I clicked on Devices in Parallels and then Network Adapter1 and got the following choices:
Connect (Already connected)
Disconnect
Default Adapter *
eno: Ethernet Adapter *
eni: Airport/Wireless Adapter *
(*None of these were selected)
Host Only Networking
Shared Networking

I selected the en` and tried to update
Bad news - Internet Explorer could not connect to the network. I tried my home page and same thing. It was connecting before. I cannot get back to where I was before!

By the way, I am connecting to the internet by a wireless router. The Mac interface still works but I cannot now connect via Parallels.

In trying to solve the original problem, I changed the settings in Parallels under devices and Network adapters. I now cannot communicate with the internet at all either with Internet Explorer or Firefox. I have not been able to undo the change. HELP!

Problem has been solved! The Parallels Network Adapter was not configured properly. It should have been set to the Bridged Ethernet mode and en1 selected for the Network Adapter when Windows was running. Thanks for looking at it and maybe this will help someone else!
