I share my wireless internet with my 2 roommates free of charge. However, every now and then one of them will queue up a list of music to download (for example) and it bogs down my own connection considerably.

I'm looking for a way to prioritize my host computer so that the others don't overpower mine when I'm playing an online game or something that needs a steady connection. I tried looking in System Preferences>Network>Network Port Configurations, but that doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for.

I'm sure there's a simple solution to this, I just can't seem to figure it out. I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

I guess I should have mentioned the set-up. I use a 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo iMac (10.4.11) as the host computer. My roommates connect to the internet through my AirPort Extreme 802.11n. I currently have the AirPort unplugged, using straight ethernet because it seems to give priority to my roommates' downloading of music or what not over my own usage. I'm just looking for a solution to limit their bandwidth(?) so mine doesn't slow down. Thanks.
