My mac mini ( leopard os ) will not connect to my wireless router network if the router security function ( pass code ) is activated ... I have windows machines that will connect to the wireless network using the same pass code ... I have tried different pass codes with same results ... when I disable the security function the mac will reconnect to the network ... the router is a linksys 802.11b 2.4 ghz broadband router ... any ideas ? thanks in advance ... Rob

I can't be 100% certain, but I'm guessing you have entered the pass code/password exactly the same on the Mac, and that you are using WEP security?
passwords/pass codes are supposed to be a convenience, but different systems don't interpret them the same. For WEP, the real "pass key" is a 26 digit hexadecimal value. On your Mac, you can select hexadecimal key and then enter the full number and it should work.
I don't know where to find the hexadecimal-converted key for that router - probably in the setup web pages. Or maybe you can get it from a PC in wireless "properties."

I have the 26 digit key that was generated by the router ... I have attempted to connect using the key ... the mac seems to be trying to connect, but then gives me a connection "timeout" message after a few seconds.

I don't have a linksys here to play with, so I guess I can't be of any more help -- I'm sending you back to the other Techs.
