Hello my name is Kristin and I just bought my first Mac.
It's a MacBook Pro and I've been trying ever since I've got it to download Windows Media Player or Windows Media Components for QuickTime.
I can download both from microsoft.com (
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...9/default.aspx), but every time I try to open the files I can't.
When I try the Windows Media Components for QuickTime
I get a window saying: Flip4Mac WMV cannot be installed on computer ... This version of Flip4Mac WMV Player cannot be installed on Intel-based hardware. Check again soon for a compatible version.
When I try the Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X. I get a quicktime window saying: Error opening movie. The movie could not be opened.
I'm not convinced that I'm not able to find a software that enables me to see video and audio material which is made for WMP although I'm using apple ... can you help me?
Hi and welcome to macosx.com
(1) In January 2006, Microsoft decided to stop the development of Windows Media Player for OSX which will stay to the 9 release. Microsoft announced it freely offered Flip4Mac
(2) In April 2006, Telestream announced developments on Flip4Mac to ensure Intel based machine compatibility

(3) could try to use VLC (
www.videolan.org) ?; sometimes, this powerfull tool (
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html) arrives to open WMV files, provided the file is not DRM protected
That's what I can say on this question
Regards
