Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: Hardware
Computer Type: Apple computer and Epson printer
Model: Powerbook 3400 and color stylus 600
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.5

Description:
Trying to print the desktop. Get message saying printer isn't selected or isn't being recognized by the computer. But it is connected. Have downloaded the new printer drivers from Epson website and installed them, trashing old ones in system folder. Have turned off background printing and have selected the printer in the chooser. Over and over again. This is an intermittant problem, by the way. I know the cable and the printer both work. Only thing I've done differently since the last time it worked is to install OS8.5 and Conflict Catcher 4. Thanks for your help.

Hi welcome to Nowonder

Try unchecking in your extension manager Desktop print Monitor and Desktop Print Spooler and also QuickDraw GX.

I am not that familar with powerbooks but in the Apple Talk if you can set this to remote only instead of Printer Port. That sometimes works.

Let me know. Best regards sharona@nowonder
