I have installed a second internal 250gig Ultra ATA Seagate hard drive as a slave in my PowerPC G4 (450MHz) running system 10.3.9, the Mac will only recognise 128gigs not the full 250gigs.
I have tried it as an external hard drive, erased it and reformatted it as Mac Extended (journalled) using disk utilty. Still reads 128gigs.

Is the Mac to old or is there another way the Mac can read the full 250gigs of Hard Disk space?

Which PPC G4 do you have ? Just saying that you have a PowerPC G4 isn't of much help as there're 11 different models. But based upon the 450MHz, my guess is that you've got a Sawtooth or a Mystic model. These only support 128GB HardDrives on the internal connections. The situation first changed with the introduction of the Quicksilver 2002 model.

In short: there's no way at all you'll be able to see the whole 250GB on the internal ATA connection. Even partitioning the drive won't help.

Your only option is to mount it with a separate interface on the FireWire. The Sawtooth has an internal FireWire port, so in that case you could just get the interface and mount internally. Otherwise, you'll have to get an external cabinet.

Good Luck

Thank you for your reply! To answer your question on Power Mac G4 Model. It is a PowerPC G4 (2.9) (AGP Graphics) Bus Speed of 100MHz. Not sure if it is a the Mystic or Sawtooth model.

You've got the Sawtooth model, so you might be able to mount it on the internal firewire interface. The only product range that comes readily to my mind is this: http://www.wiebetech.com/includes/ho...uct.php?item=3
