How do you open .doc files in OSX? I have received three attachments to an email, two of which are .doc files. The third, which is a .pdf, opens perfectly, but the .doc files, while the words appear, have lost their formatting and graphics. Or do I need to get some more software?

If you have Mac OS X 10.3 or later, TextEdit is capable of reading and saving Word files. However, it doesn't support very complex formatting or embedded images.

If you don't have a copy of Microsoft Office, you can download NeoOffice, which is the Mac OS X-native version of OpenOffice.org:
